Today was what we in the business would call A GOOD DAY. :)
I got up around 8:30 this morning and participated in two conference calls. The first was a bit boring but the second was pretty informative. So I'm glad I made the effort to dial the second one since it was optional. While listening to the second call, I had some oatmeal for breakfast. I've forgotten how filling oatmeal can be!
After the calls were over, I went to Capital Fitness (downtown) for a workout. I've been neglecting the gym lately. So it was nice to FINALLY get my ass over there! Today I did shoulders, biceps, triceps, and abs. I also did 30 minutes of cardio. I was amazed at the amount of weight I was able to do ... or more accurately, not able to do ... during my shoulder exercises. Sheesh. I take six months off from the gym and I actually shrank! I've had to reduce the weight on ALL SIX shoulder exercises. Oh well ... time to build it back up again.
After my workout, I drank my protein shake, showered, changed clothes, and began my walk home.
As I walked home from the gym I passed by here:

(Char Grill on Hillsborough Street)
I could have really ruined the time I spent at the gym with one simple order. But I was relatively well-behaved. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato (no mayonnaise). And I had water to drink. I would have loved to have fries and/or a shake. But I was a good boy.
As I continued walking home I thought about a lot of things ... and no, not just the cute guys I saw at the gym! I think I am going to move my mixing equipment out to the living room. I can rearrange the living room such that I can "hide" the mixing equipment when I'm not spinning CDs/vinyl. But with it located in the living room, I can spin at parties without having to move the equipment around every time. Now if only I could lift that damn equipment on my own ... :)
I met
Eric and
John at Helios Coffee around 9:30. We sat outside at the very back. I drank two medium coffees as we sat there chatting for nearly two hours. There seemed to be a fair number of cute guys at the coffee shop as well, which added to our enjoyment. The only irritant was that bar next door. They have live music there sometimes ... which is great ... but they play outdoors. So many times we ended up having to shout over the music from next door. If I wanted loud music I would have gone to the bar. But I wanted conversation, so I chose a coffee shop. Oh well. It was still a fantastic time.
From coffee we drove over to Flex for Trailer Trash. Thursdays are always the more crowded of the weeknights. But the crowd was particularly fun this time. We saw several people we knew (Wes, Tony, Walter, Richard ... just to name a few that come to mind). And we saw many we would liked to have known (i.e., more cute guys than I seem to remember seeing on recent Thursdays). As usual, the sound system did not allow me to clearly hear what was being said by the performers, but I did enjoy the music and dance performances by the drag queens. What a great night!
Eric drove me back home around 3-ish. He then drove himself home and sent me a text message to report his safe arrival.
What a great night.
WHAT A GREAT DAY!
